My lovely Black Pansy Vase. Here is a great decorative piece which can also hold a solid bouquet of flowers. I have left the bottom weighty to hold heavier floral. The black glaze is striking to set off colorful petals yet, the solitary vase will stand strong in a room as a decorative art piece. When I began to shape this piece into a classical wide lipped vase I was not imagining the color of black. This is my first fancy vase in black. I sculpted the pansies first and scattered them around, in and out of the boundary confines of the lip, the same way a wild flower may get out of its’ own garden and populate the path it borders. When I looked at the empty spaces between the petals, I heard the pot scream out, ' give me texture'. Generally, I don't listen to screaming, but I think this was a good choice. My pots have many elements. Texture is one element that soothes a soul as you gently caress.
