This is shaped as both bowl and vase. I call it a bowl because I have a companion vase to accompany it. Click here to see the vase. I threw this on the potter's wheel with porcelain clay. When I began to sculpt it, I was into bricks. Bricks on a vase seemed so unlikely. I wanted to show deterioration of the bricks and what was being covered by the bricks, flowers and nature specifically. But as I began to get a better picture of bricks falling not being built up I needed a way to show it was a deterioration, not a covering up. I added plaster to let the audience know this was covering bricks that were covering the beauty of nature. What it all means I leave to the beholder.
