SEEDS OF PLENTY HANGING PLATE
Hand made from porcelain clay. Shaped on the potter's wheel before carefully sculpting the original design. The artist, Gail Lundgren, sprays the glazes onto the artwork before kiln firing to 2200 degrees. Signed by the artist. 12", hangs
This large plate is thrown on the potter's wheel, carefully compressed and the foot is trimmed. Two feet for this large plate. Those are the circles you see in the back, potters call them the foot. Not all artists show off the back of their plates, but I think it is part of the artwork that is important. When you set this on an easel in front of a mirror you will enjoy both sides at the same time. When you have a nice bunch of beautiful apples, put the plate on the dining room table and fill it with apples. Now for the actually sculpting, four layers of petals and a center full of seeds in the front. In the back more petals and a lot more seeds. I added clay to make the dots in the back. The glaze that I sprayed on the plate changes color with the heat of the kiln. You can see mellow yellow, orange yellow, moss green and some colors in between. I added black to the seeds and dots in the back. So many seeds in one place. One available, Buy now.
