Making my art - in video 2014

Accomplishments

Gail earned her art degree at Bowling Green University. In 2008 she began her career fulltime as an artist.

Gail shapes porcelain clay on the potter’s wheel before she hand sculpts original designs consisting of florals, architecture and abstract.

After carefully spraying glaze in bright colors, the porcelain becomes vibrant in color, shape, intricate details and originality.

Gail has been voted by Ohio Designer Craftsman, one of the Best of 2014 and selected Women’s Art Club of Cincinnati’s annual juried art exhibitions, for 4 years. She has received 2 prizes for her porcelain artwork from WACC. Art Design Consultants voted her ‘Floral Artist of the Year’ in July 2016 and 'Ceramic Artist of the Year', in October 2017. For six years ADC has juried her fine art into each annual International Call for Artists contest. She was juried into the first year of Cincinnati Supports Art (CSA) collection of Cincinnati artists. Gail has achieved Signature Member status in Women’s Art Club of Cincinnati. You can find Gail published in the 2015 ADC (Art Design Consultants) Blink catalog of fine art, she maintains an online presence in the C-Link of Cincinnati through Brazee studios and her art is printed in the summer publication of Venue Magazine.

You can purchase Gail’s original elegant sculpted porcelain artwork in My Store on this website. If you are in Cincinnati, see her artwork and purchase it at Gallery

But, if you like studio talk . . .

Porcelain clay is my medium to create fine art. I make traditional vases and bowls, but I also create lovely translucent lamps, hanging flowers, and one of kind personalized art. Each piece of art has been first shaped on the potters wheel. When the clay has dried slightly, I spend up to a week sculpting original designs into the leather hard porcelain clay. Then the art is left to dry very slowly, until bone dry.

I must place it in a kiln oven and slowly bring the temperature to 1832 degrees to pull out all remaining moisture. After achieving the target temperature, my art must cool slowly and evenly until it is in a bisque stage. After the art is cooled, I can spray it with a colorful or clear glaze.

The glazed piece returns to the kiln and is now slowly brought to 2250 degrees for the final firing. This process take 36 hours or more until the art piece is slowly cooled. If all goes well, I have the finished art piece to post. You may purchase my porcelain artwork directly through this website.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
